Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

My nan Beryl had Parkinson’s. We lost her a few years ago and I’m running the 2027 London marathon for her.

If you’ve been around Parkinson’s you’ll know it isn’t one bad day. It’s years of it. You watch someone you love slowly lose things they used to do without even thinking about it, and there’s not a lot you can do except be there. It’s hard on them and it’s hard on everyone around them.

That second bit is why I went with Parkinson’s UK. They fund the research, but they also fund the stuff that makes normal life possible in the meantime. Local advisers who help families figure out what happens next. Speech therapists. Support groups. A helpline that actually answers.

I’m aiming for £2,300. That’s about what it costs to fund two weeks of a speech and language therapist, helping someone with Parkinson’s keep their voice and stay understood. When you’ve watched someone lose that, you get why it matters.

Anything you can give helps. Thanks!
