Great North Run 2024

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Great North Run on 8 September 2024 to raise vital funds for Parkinson's UK. This charity is close to my heart as my lovely grandma, Dehlia, sadly passed away from Parkinson's earlier this year.

Dehlia was diagnosed with Parkinson's when she was 54, she suffered with the disease all of my life. When I was little, Dehlia did the absolute most to look after me and my sister, going to grandma's house guaranteed us anything we wanted for tea (which was usually pancakes), homemade sweet treats and her undivided attention. As I got older, I saw the effects Parkinson's had on my grandma, it was heartbreaking to see but I took comfort in helping my mum look after her and entertaining her by looking at old photos, listening to her favourite songs and chatting about life.

Dehlia had the best care throughout her life from us as a family, particularly from my wonderful mum, Susan, and grandad, Stanley, who worked so hard to ensure Dehlia had the best quality of life possible at home, despite how hard it was for them.

Parkinson’s is such a cruel disease. Please help by sponsoring me whatever you can. All the money raised will go to Parkinson’s UK nurses, to provide much-needed advice, support and information for people who are living with the condition. Thank you for reading my story and donating to this great cause.

Thank you to my sponsors
