Retracing Dad's Running Footsteps
My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's about ten years ago. Sadly he passed away February 4th 2026 two days before his 82nd birthday. Dad and I first started running together when I was about 9-10, and we regularly went running and completed several races and fun runs together.
I am hoping to retrace some of his running footsteps and try to complete a few of the races he did in the past and raise some money for Parkinson's along the way, starting with the Fleet Half Marathon on 29th March, a race he completed 39 years ago on 29th March! There will be other races, I know he also completed the Swansea 10k and the Cabbage Patch 10 but I will be looking at his haul of medals to see what else I could do!
Thank you for visiting my page and thank you in advance for your donation, every donation helps find a cure for Parkinson's. If there is an option, please include an email address so I can keep you updated on my progress! Mine is annalejeune@hotmail.com
Dad knew what I was planning on doing and he will be with me every step of the way.
Now a little bit about Parkinson's:
Parkinson’s is a complex brain condition that has no cure and gets worse over time. It has more than 40 symptoms, from tremor and pain to anxiety. And Parkinson's is on the rise. Someone is diagnosed every 20 minutes in the UK today. By 2050, the number of people with Parkinson’s worldwide will double to 25 million.
Parkinson’s UK is the charity that’s here to support every Parkinson’s journey, every step of the way. Wherever you’re from, whatever you need.
From searching for a cure and campaigning for better health and care, to funding research into groundbreaking new treatments and running life-changing support services. It’s all driven by one mission: improving life with Parkinson’s.
That’s why I’m fundraising for Parkinson’s UK.
