Why I'm fundraising for Parkinson's UK

I’m taking part in Walk for Parkinson’s 100 Mile Challenge to help fund specialist care for people with Parkinson’s.

I'm uniting with thousands of others, all passionate about improving life for people with Parkinson’s.

As many of you will be aware I have had Parkinson's Disease for over 10 years. I have also had a total left hip replacement 8 weeks ago.

Its 2.42am. in the morning  and because of my Parkinson's I don't sleep well. It also makes me do crazy things like signing to to this challenge.

So I was surfing the net and saw this challenge and as God has given me the ability to walk again thanks to the marvellous orthopaedic team I thought its time to give something back. What is the point of a brand new hip if i don't use it!!

Parkinson's UK have been very helpful to me, especially through.  the work of the Parkinson's Specialist Nurses and I hope through taking part in this challenge more nurses will be available to help fellow suffers.

So if you feel so inclined, please donate and sponsor me

My updates

Done and dusted

Thursday 28th May
So. My wonderful Apple Fitness app soon that I have completed my 100 miles in May or Parkinson’sUK.

T thank you all for your help. You donations made it worth while. . So that is the second thing I have done before Parkinson’s. A few years ago I went by E Bike from lJohn Gros to Landsend. . Very enjoyable but also very expensive to undertake. This has been well, it’s a struggle but older than dusted now. See you soon. Andiy

Don’t ya love it.

Wednesday 27th May
Late going to bed and don’t ya love it when the Apple app has picked up another 1,2 miles o walking.  YES

One Final Push

Tuesday 26th May
Well we are coming to the last few days. I am up to 94 miles I think by the end of today and so 6 miles to go and 5 days to do it. Thank you all for your support  I couldn’t have done it without your support. Andy

A Bit More Effort Pmease

Monday 18th May
Well day 18 has come and gone and we are up to 65 miles done and 35 left to do so left to doing 13 days. So 2.7 miles each day. And the weather is supposed to be warming up.
I was up early today and went for a short walk. It was  freezing. Wanted to  do 3 miles but o nlt did 1.5. Maybe try again tomorrow. Oh good news I have been discharged from physio after 12 weeks. Ok down to earth. I will try to up the mileage. It’s 23.14 pm. Time to sleep b

A bit more effort needed

Harder than I thought……..phew

Friday 15th May
It all seemed so simple. Walk 3.3 miles each day and finish with a day I hand. So easy.

Well yes order normal circumstances. But that’s forgetting the “Parkinson Problem”. It’s so unpredictable and it takes me at least 27 minutes for me to ask a Mike. So 3 miles is usually 90 minute. Now my Parkinson’s is rarely giving 90 consecutive “ON” good minutes. So I guess it’s plod on and do what I can   Second half of May here we come.

Temptation!!!!

Saturday 9th May
Today I added 28 miles in an error. When I looked at my page it showed my total mileage as 58 miles rather than the true figure  of 33 miles. Nobody will notice. Just a simple error. Go on leave it as it is. But if nobody else knows I will know. So edited and now correct but further left to go.

Ikea

Thursday 7th May
Well a spontaneous trip to IKEA. I seemed to be wandering round for ages. May I  request that any walking in  IKEA counts as double.   To add insult to injury the meatballs were half price if you had a friends and families card. I knew I had one electronically in my phone. No I could not well not until I had eaten my plant based meatballs. It was then decided that.there was a time limit for producing a valid e-card and I had exceeded the time limit   😠😠😠Yes you read it right. I had plant based meatballs. And very nice too.

It seemed like a good idea at 3am!

Monday 4th May
S.    So I was awake at 2an. Was thinking how blessed I am to be able to walk again after the brilliant efforts of my surgeon. I have been in pain for 2 years due to osteoarthritis of the hip.  But now I’m pain free so dhst better way to celebrate walking than walking. I hope to do 100 miles in Ney for Parkinson’s AuK   I will log my walks and if you feel able to donate I would be very grateful c
