Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Manchester Marathon for Parkinson’s UK and would really appreciate your support!
My grandad has been a farmer his entire life, hardworking, resilient, and someone who has always dedicated himself to providing for his family and community. Farming is physically demanding, and he spent decades working long days, rarely stopping and always putting others first.
Watching Parkinson’s gradually take that independence away from him has been incredibly difficult. Day-to-day tasks that once came naturally have become challenging, and his condition is declining quickly. Seeing someone who has always been so strong now struggle with simple everyday activities has made the reality of this disease deeply personal to me.
Running this marathon is my way of turning that heartbreak into something positive. I want to raise vital funds to support research, improve treatment, and help provide practical support for individuals and families living with Parkinson’s. I know firsthand how much support is needed, not just for those diagnosed, but for the people around them as they navigate the challenges this condition brings.
Taking on the Manchester Marathon will be a huge personal challenge, but it feels meaningful to do it for a cause so close to my heart. Every mile I run will be for my grandad and for everyone affected by Parkinson’s, with the hope that future families will face a different journey.
Please help by sponsoring my challenge. All money raised will help fund breakthroughs and help support the Parkinson's community.
