Great North Run 2026

Great North Run for my DAD

IN 2017, my dad survived a major incident that changed all our lives. We didn’t know it then, but it was the beginning of a long road, one that would eventually lead to Parkinson’s symptoms in 2021 and a formal diagnosis in 2023.

Parkinson’s is unpredictable. Some days are steady, some days are tough, and some days feel like the ground shifts beneath us. But through it all, my dad remains the same incredible man he has always been and the heart of our family. To me, he’s not just my dad. He’s my absolute world. And to my children, he’s the best grandad anyone could ever wish for.

Watching someone you love face Parkinson’s is heartbreaking, but it also shows you what real courage looks like. Every day, he gets up and keeps going. Every day, he fights. And every day, we fight with him.

That’s why I’m running the Great North Run.

I’m running for my dad. I’m running for every family living and having lived with Parkinson’s.

If you’re able to donate — whether it’s the price of a coffee or something more — you’ll be helping fund vital work that gives families like mine hope for better treatments, better support, and one day, a cure!
