Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2026

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Edinburgh half Marathon Festival for Parkinson’s UK and would really appreciate your support!

As many of you know my dad has Parkinson’s disease.  We nearly lost him last week and his future is very unknown at this stage. Parkinson’s affects my dad’s movement, often finding himself “frozen” and unable to move for long periods of time, constant abdominal pain, low blood pressure leading to his most recent (nearly fatal) fall, the onset of dementia (almost always developed alongside Parkinson’s) has added to the difficulties both my dad and family face every day, the list is endless!!

Progress in fundamentally new medications for Parkinson’s disease has been slow compared with the huge need, and many people feel the pace has been frustratingly gradual.  So please help by sponsoring my challenge. All money raised will help fund breakthroughs and help support the Parkinson's community.

Sad news

Tuesday 10th Feb
Sadly my dad died in the early hours of 24th February with my mum holding his hand as they slept next to each other.  My dad suffered so much on the last few years and with the onset of dementia really being the last straw for both my dad and his family.  We all miss him terribly.  He was my go to for everything, my calm to my storm.  “Couldn’t do without you” is what I always used to say x
