Individual UK Runs 2026

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

I'm running (and probably walking) the Brighton Trail Marathon on 12th April 2026, and hoping to raise lots of money for the Parkinson's UK Reigate & East Surrey support group at the same time.  The course is 26 miles in the beautiful and steep hills of the South Downs, ending at Hove park in the city (where the plan is to celebrate with fish & chips on the beach!)

Parkinson's UK is a charity that is very close to my heart.  My Dad lived with Parkinson's for 15 years.  At the time it felt there wasn't much support available for him or for my mum who was caring for him.  The Reigate and East Surrey support group is a wonderful open and supportive community that makes a real difference to people living with Parkinson's.  They have monthly meetings providing information on products and services that can help, hold weekly movement and sports classes, as well as wonderful social events.  It is run by a brilliant team of volunteers.  The group needs funding to continue these activities, and the money donated here will be helping that great cause.

Thank you so much for donating.

There's more information about Parkinson's below.

Parkinson’s is a complex brain condition that has no cure and gets worse over time. It has more than 40 symptoms, from tremor and pain to anxiety. And Parkinson's is on the rise. Someone is diagnosed every 20 minutes in the UK today. By 2050, the number of people with Parkinson’s worldwide will double to 25 million.

Parkinson’s UK is the charity that’s here to support every Parkinson’s journey, every step of the way. Wherever you’re from, whatever you need.

From searching for a cure and campaigning for better health and care, to funding research into groundbreaking new treatments and running life-changing support services. It’s all driven by one mission: improving life with Parkinson’s.

That’s why I’m fundraising for Parkinson’s UK.

Thank you to my sponsors
