Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

I hate long distance running and I always have.

The furthest I have ever ran consecutively is maybe 6km? Strava can confirm...

I’ve always backed myself more as a sprinter — quick bursts, short distances and a protein shake as a reward. That said, I have always been active and loved to push myself through sport whether its playing football, cycling, skiing, weightlifting, Barry's bootcamp or Hyrox. But a half marathon? That was never on my radar.

Until recently, when a close family member was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s. That news hit hard and I wanted to figure out how I could help.

So here I am: signed up for the London Landmarks Half Marathon in April 2026, running 21.1km for Parkinson’s UK — a charity doing vital work for the 153,000+ people in the UK living with Parkinson’s.

Parkinson’s affects more people than you might realise, and the fight against it needs all the support it can get. I’m running for my loved one, and for the millions of others impacted by this disease.
