Manchester Marathon 2025

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Manchester Marathon for Parkinson’s UK and would really appreciate your support!

As many of you are aware my dad has been living with Parkinson’s disease since 2020. We have always known that the Parkinson’s journey would have its ups and downs but the last 12 months have been particularly challenging. As dad’s core strength started to disappear the falls started to increase. Multiple visits to hospital later and we are where we are today. Decreasing mobility means that dad is now immobile and fully reliant on mum to assist with all day to day living tasks.

Parkinson’s is a disease that doesn’t happen over night. Parkinson’s is slowly taking dad away from us all day by day. There are no cures, there are no answers on what the Parkinson’s journey will be like or how long it will last.

The most frustrating thing for me is that there are no answers, there is no medicine that can reverse some of the changes that this disease has made to dad.

I’m fundraising for my dad and for all the families that will have to go through this journey in the future. Hopefully there will be answers and maybe one day a cure.

Please help by sponsoring my challenge. All money raised will help fund breakthroughs and help support the Parkinson's community.

2 Weeks to go

Monday 14th Apr
Long run day yesterday. Not going to say it was my best running but 32k is 32k 🤷‍♂️

6 weeks to go

Saturday 15th Mar
Happy to say I am back on track. Post my 32k run I started to struggle with tendon issues in my left foot. Around 5 weeks of no running and a few visits to a physio and I am back out running and slowly increasing the kms. Fingers crossed for the next few weeks.

32K run!

Saturday 1st Feb
A massive 32k in the legs. Only one way from here ⬆️

Thank you to my sponsors
