TCS London Marathon Saturday 2027

Why we are fundraising for Parkinson's UK

My sister Francesca (aka Ches/Chesca/Franny!) and I have been extremely lucky to receive a place in the London Marathon for 2027. We’ve both run the marathon before, myself once and Francesca twice, always for Parkinson’s.

As you may know our Dad, Gordon and Francesca’s Mother in Law, Ros, are living with Parkinson’s. It’s a cruel condition which affects them both in so many different ways.

We want to run the marathon one last time, this time together, side by side for Dad and Ros, and all those living with Parkinson’s. We’ve seen first hand the amazing support Parkinson’s nurses provide and anything we raise will go such a long way to help more people, both those with Parkinson’s and their families.

We thank you all so much for reading this and sending encouragement to us both, this marathon isn’t going to be easy!!

Love Liam and Francesca

Parkinson’s is a complex brain condition that has no cure and gets worse over time. It has more than 40 symptoms, from tremor and pain to anxiety. And Parkinson's is on the rise. Someone is diagnosed every 20 minutes in the UK today. By 2050, the number of people with Parkinson’s worldwide will double to 25 million.

Parkinson’s UK is the charity that’s here to support every Parkinson’s journey, every step of the way. Wherever you’re from, whatever you need.

From searching for a cure and campaigning for better health and care, to funding research into ground breaking new treatments and running life-changing support services. It’s all driven by one mission: improving life with Parkinson’s.

That’s why we're fundraising for Parkinson’s UK.

Thank you to our sponsors
