Walk for Parkinson's: Birmingham 2025

We did it!

Today, my sister and I took on a 10k walk in support of Parkinson’s UK. This year’s Walk for Parkinson’s felt especially meaningful to us, as our mom was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Seeing firsthand how much this condition impacts people and their families has made us even more grateful for the incredible work the charity does.
Earlier this summer, the walk was postponed, and unfortunately, we weren’t able to attend the rescheduled date. But we didn’t want to let that stop us from showing our support. So, we decided to take on the challenge ourselves. We headed to Sutton Park, where the event would have taken place, and tried to follow a similar route. We may have gotten a little off track here and there (the route didn’t quite match!), but we set our own goal of 10k and we did it!
It was so important for us to take this step not only for the charity, but also for our mom.
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far, we are truly grateful for your generosity. We hope to join the official walk next year alongside all the others supporting this amazing charity.

Why we are fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Hi, we are sisters (if you couldn't tell) Sara (36) & Harna (34).

This year our Mom (56) was diagnosed with Parkinson's, after experiencing months of symptoms she was finally able to have it confirmed by a specialist.

Since that time she has had ups and downs of dealing with how it affects & changes her life.

Fortunately with medication and Parkinson's support groups having a positive impact, she is now having mostly good days.

Before her diagnosis Parkinsons isn't something we knew a lot about, however now it feels personal and we want to help it any way we can.

We love walking & regularly walk together on a Sunday morning so this walk felt like the perfect opportunity to raise awareness and to support the woman that raised us!

Please donate anything you can :)
