Royal Parks Half Marathon 2026

Why we are fundraising for Parkinson's UK

🧠 The Landmark Team — Royal Parks Half Marathon

"We've mapped the Parkinson's brain. Now we're mapping the Royal Parks."

We are the Landmark research team, a group of scientists who are, by training, much better at running experiments than running long distances.

Parkinson's affects over 150,000 people in the UK, yet no therapy currently exists that can slow or stop its progression. Our project is tackling this by building the world's most comprehensive molecular atlas of the Parkinson's brain, profiling 50 million single brain cells using the latest cutting-edge technologies, to identify the drug targets and biomarkers that the next generation of treatments will be built upon.

Groundbreaking stuff. We're very proud of it. Our legs are significantly less impressive.

It turns out that pipetting is not great marathon training. Neither is sitting at a microscope for 10 hours, debating coding troubleshooting over coffee, or staring at genomic data until 7pm. And yet, here we are. Signed up. No way out.

This October, we're trading our lab coats for running shoes and taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon, all in aid of Parkinson's UK, the charity whose support makes our research possible.

We can't promise we'll be fast. We can't promise we'll be graceful. But we absolutely promise we'll finish and that every penny you donate will go towards research that actually matters.

💙 From the lab to the finish line — all for Parkinson's UK. Please donate whatever you can!
