Walk for Parkinson's: Sunderland 2026

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

On the 6th of September 2026 I’m walking to help fund specialist Parkinson’s care to thousands more people who urgently need it.

Thousands of us are uniting to help people with Parkinson’s, and those who love and care for them, get access to the support they need.

£200 donation target reached! 💙

Sunday 28th Jun
Thank you to all who have donated so far, thanks to you we have reached our target of £200. Let's see if we can get to £250. With this amount of donations someone living with Parkinson's can have access to healthcare support 💙

What is Parkinson's?

Sunday 28th Jun
If you're considering donating but unsure what Parkinson's Disease is then I thought I'd make a brief description to explain. People living with Parkinson's Disease don't have enough of the chemical dopamine in their brain due to some of the nerve cells not working anymore. However it's not been confirmed why this happens. The main symptoms include involuntary shaking of parts of the body (also known as tremors), slow movement and stiffness to muscles. But there's a lot more to it than just that... Low mood, anxiety, balance problems, anosmia, insomnia and memory problems are just a few other symptoms people living with this condition can have. When my dad was first diagnosed we had never even heard of it before and when I would tell other people they wouldn't be aware either. Thanks to the help of awareness being spread I've noticed a change in that. I hope that with the continuing spread of awareness we can help support those with the condition and others can get a diagnosis quicker by being aware of the symptoms. Whilst there is no cure for Parkinson's, thanks to charities such as Parkinson's UK more research is being done into treatment and I hope that one day those living with this condition can have the best quality of life. Thank you for all the support and donations

Wednesday 24th Jun
Yesterday I increased the target goal to £150, already we have reached that goal! This is absolutely amazing, thank you to everyone who has donated and shared this fundraiser. With the money we have raised so far those living with Parkinson's Disease can be supported.

We've raised our target now to £200 which is just fantastic 👏

As we reach closer to our walk for Parkinson's UK I will continue to post updates. Please continue to share this page, even if we can just raise awareness of Parkinson's Disease that would mean the world to me 💙

Target reached! Thank you

Monday 22nd Jun
I would like to say a massive thank you to all those who have donated. Currently we have reached our original target of £100. Let's see how much we can raise for such an important cause.

New target is £150 💙

Why is this an important fundraiser to me?

Thursday 18th Jun
Anyone who knows me knows that Parkinsons Disease is a topic close to my heart. My dad was diagnosed with Parkinsons at the young age of 50 years old. For over 10 years he has battled this neurological condition with such bravery and been my inspiration and role model. I feel it's only right to give back. Parkinsons UK has helped me and my family in so many ways and is a charity I love to help out. It would mean the absolute world to me if you could consider donating, no matter how small it all helps. Thank you and I hope to make my dad proud.
