Loch Ness Marathon 2025

Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Hello folks, I guess it’s my turn to see what this whole running malarky is like. I’d like to start by saying THANK YOU for visiting my fundraising page! I’m taking part in the Loch Ness Marathon, fundraising for Parkinson’s UK and would really appreciate your support! Please feel free to read below on the story for why…

I’ve always been a very sporty & athletic chap and have been in 1,5,10k running events all over Scotland. However, growing up I fell out of touch with running without ever completing the big one, the marathon. So, this is a challenge to me in more than one way! I was conscripted into doing the Loch Ness Marathon by my lovely girlfriend and her family whom are doing the run for the charity Highland Hospice, which is a charity which they hold very close to their hearts (I will be posting about their fundraising efforts too, so if you have a spare couple bob…). It is a privilege to be able to support them and their cause in my own way with raising money for a charity close to my family and I, Parkinson’s UK. I have unfortunately lived watching the decline of my grandma, Cherry, who has suffered with this terrible terrible disease. Despite the disease she has kept on fighting and been an inspiration I have and will look up to in terms of hobbies, life advise and genuine care. I won’t share too much on this as I am not looking to guilt people into donating. But alas, this challenge couldn’t have come at a better time. I am so willing to fight the mental battle in solidarity with my girlfriend’s family with my grandmother in my mind.

100% of the money raised will help fund breakthroughs and help support the Parkinson's community which is an absolute honour to run 42km for, my grandparents have struggled finding carers in the area that can support my grandad in the day to day life, and hands-on care with my grandma. It may be too late in mine or your case, but it’s not too late for the next persons waking up to the dreaded news. Whether it is Parkinson’s or any other charity which hits home, I invite you in joining me to do the best you can to donate and help, as you know how negative a disease of this caliber can be.

Thank you for reading, keep up with my fundraising effort and the run @bencameron090504 on Instagram and Facebook. (There may be some forfeits for hitting my goal…)
