Brighton Marathon 2026

Why we are fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Two for the price of one!
We - David and Sam, Father and Son - are both in training for the 2026 Brighton Marathon.

This will be Sam's first and David's 10th (it's been a while since the last one and even longer since he enjoyed one!). We are both looking forward to the challenge, and to supporting Parkinson's UK.

The cause is close to our hearts as our dear Mum/Grandmother has Parkinson's. Without wishing to be too sentimental (not a family trait!) she is inspirational in the way she keeps going without complaint and has continued to support the family as much as ever.

We are far from the only family affected by the disease - apparently someone is diagnosed every 20 minutes in the UK today. By 2050, the number of people with Parkinson’s worldwide is forecast to double to 25 million.

Parkinson’s is a complex brain condition that has no cure and gets worse over time. It has more than 40 symptoms, from tremor and pain to anxiety.

Parkinson’s UK is actively involved in searching for a cure and campaigning for better health and care, as well as funding research into groundbreaking new treatments and running life-changing support services. It’s all driven by one mission: improving life with Parkinson’s.

We are proud to be fundraising for Parkinson's UK and would like to say a massive heartfelt thankyou to our sponsors.

Thank you to our sponsors
