Great North Run 2025

Another Great North Run with my Dad

Here we are then 2025 and once more my Dad, Steve & I will be taking on the worlds biggest Half Marathon, The Great North Run. Covering 13.1 miles from Newcastle to South Shields along with approximately 60, 998 other people (predicted 61,000 people will take part)

In 2023 my Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's and the news was a massive shock to him. A Royal Navy Veteran and former rugby player & referee who had always led a physically active lifestyle, now struggling to complete everyday tasks due to his tremor and other various symptoms.

In 2023 he took on the Great North Run at a few weeks notice. In 2024 I joined him and managed to get him 20 minutes off of his previous time.

His mindset is he wants to continue doing The Great North Run until he can't.

Since his diagnosis as a family we have been researching into Parkinson's Disease and although there is no cure, by taking part in The Great North Run we can fundraise for developments in research and medication. With a highly likely chance I will end up diagnosed myself.

I would be greatly appreciative of any donations received. I won't be doing the event in record time but I will be crossing the finish line with my 64 year old dad Steve who has Parkinson's Disease.
