Why I am fundraising for Parkinson's UK

Thursday 14th Sep

In January 2020 I began training to take part in the 2020 GNR. In August 2020 whilst running I began to experience foot cramps. These cramps became more frequent over a short space of time resulting in my 10 mile runs, being cut down to about 50 yards. 

I began a journey of physiotherapy suspecting I had a muscle injury, but obviously, this made no difference. In early 2021 whilst awaiting an appointment to see a specialist, I noticed a clumsiness with my right hand. I was unable to turn a key in the door or brush my teeth. Simple tasks like doing my shoe laces became extremely difficult.
In November 2021 at the age of 41 I was diagnosed with Early Onset Parkinson’s Disease.
It has been a long journey to get to this point however I am finally ready to plan ahead and train for the GNR 2024 to help raise money and awareness of Parkinson’s UK
