Diversity and Inclusion - changing the structural norm

Please email Lisa Gill on lgill@parkinsons.org.uk to request the recording of this webinar.

Recent events leading to the emergence of the Black Lives Matter campaign have created a catalyst for change. The extreme treatment of individuals by state representatives has created an appalled reaction amongst many people. However there are many ingrained examples of exclusion, discrimination and inequality that exist right in front of people's eyes without getting the same reaction. This has a continuing effect on availability of opportunities, remuneration and the way society thinks and works.

Join Gary Shaughnessy, Parkinson's UK Chair of Trustees, and our guest speakers in conversation as they share their experiences and the obstacles that need to be overcome to address both passive and aggressive exclusion:

Rose St Louis, KPMG, will share her experiences and takeaways for competing and succeeding in the City.

Omotola Thomas, Parkinson's Africa, will discuss how we can address the huge disparity in access to health care as millions of people are excluded from Parkinson’s medication and basic support simply because of where they were born and live.

Kadra Abdinasir, Charity So White, will explore how we can ensure charities become more diverse and representative of the communities they serve and how this applies to other sectors.

Julie Dodd, Director of Transformation at Parkinson’s UK, will share the steps the charity is taking to increase diversity and inclusion amongst employees and volunteers as well as engaging our broad community.

Our panelists will help us explore what creates real and lasting change, and provide a reality check on where we are and give insight into the role of sectors, employers and employees in changing the structural norm.

This webinar is beneficial for all employees across sectors, in particular Inclusion and Diversity Managers, HR Managers and Line Managers.

By joining this webinar you will discover how to:
- Challenge the structural norm to create lasting change
- Take moments as a catalyst for action
- Measure the impact and progress of your diversity and inclusion commitments and actions to sustain positive change
